Are You Innocent or Guilty? The Role of Polygraph Tests in Determining the Truth
Are you truly innocent of a crime you are being investigated for or have been arrested for? Or are you guilty but make false statements claiming your innocence? Would you be willing to take a polygraph test to prove your innocence, or do you avoid it out of fear? If you are truly 100% innocent, taking a polygraph test can help clear your name. This blog explores the importance of polygraph tests in determining the truth in serious criminal investigations.
High-Profile Cases and Polygraph Tests
We have all read and seen news stories on various news stations and social media that make us cringe. Bryan Kohberger and the four Utah college student murders, Lori Vallow Daybell and the murders and disappearance of her two children, Scott Peterson and the murder of his wife Laci Peterson, and Chris Watts and the murder of his wife are some examples. In all of these cases, the alleged suspects either stood on their porches, front yards, or with their attorneys and professed their innocence. They faked tears and even joined search parties for their missing loved ones, knowing they were dead and long gone. After many long hours of exhaustive investigative work by dedicated law enforcement, arrests were finally made in these cases. In most cases, polygraph tests were offered by law enforcement to these alleged innocent individuals. All but one took the test. The one who took it, Chris Watts, failed, and his confession helped convict him. All others who professed their innocence refused to take a polygraph.
The Value of Polygraph Tests in Proving Innocence
In my 22½ years of administering polygraph tests and helping thousands of individuals in serious circumstances, ranging from murders to child sexual abuse and many other important matters, I have yet to see truly innocent individuals fail an exam with an experienced polygraph examiner. Conversely, those who claim to be innocent but refuse to take a polygraph or take one thinking they can manipulate the results ultimately fail because they are guilty of the crime.
Why You Should Consider a Polygraph Test
I have said this repeatedly and will continue to say it: Whenever you are in a bad situation, being investigated or accused of something you did not do, and have no physical proof other than your words, consider taking a polygraph test from a well-established, experienced polygraph examiner who is highly recommended by attorneys and other professionals. Those who refuse to take a polygraph usually have something to fear. If you are lying or guilty, you should be fearful. If you have nothing to fear about the alleged crime, take the test. The more physical evidence you have to support your case, the better it will be.
An Important Note to Readers: Your attorney may tell you many things, but what they do not tell you is that the more you provide, the more you help your attorney. The better they will be able to fight for you. If you give them just your words, they can only do so much. If you provide them with witnesses or a passing polygraph test, they will use their legal expertise to get whatever they can into a court of law to assist your case or have it dropped before it goes any further. So why wait? Take the aggressive initiative and do whatever you need to do to assist your matter.
Do not delay in taking a polygraph test for any issue, no matter what. An experienced polygraph examiner, like me, has heard everything under the sun and can provide excellent assistance if you are truly innocent. Choosing an inexperienced examiner may only hurt your case. Choose carefully and wisely.
If you are serious about taking a polygraph/lie detector test to resolve an important issue or allegation made against you or someone you know, do your research to find a reputable polygraph examiner with great reviews and referrals from professionals.
